U2
Bono needs to shut up
Monday, March 1st, 2010 | Concerts | No Comments
Man we are getting the U2 news today, now I find out Bono is a typical rich guy who thinks he is better then all of us. There are reports that Bono and Edge had dinner last Tuesday and Bono had some demands. First, he wanted only Perrier water and when the restaurant didn’t have it he made the waiter run across the street to buy some. He also needed his salad prepared special, as it could only be chopped and when it got to the table he made sure it was chopped. Any time I hear stuff like this it makes me never want to listen to U2 music, I hate when these famous people start to act all famous.
U2 is still rich top money makers in 2009

Billboard magazine announced their Top 40 Money Makers in 2009 and no surprise U2 was on the top of the list. The Irish mega band took in more then $108 million in 2009, mainly because of their 360-degree tour, which is the most expensive tour to hit the road. U2 wasn’t the only 80′s mega stars that are still raking it in, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen are right behind them at two and three. Springsteen brought in a crazy $57 million to put him at #2 and Madonna has the #3 spot with $47 million for 2009. The #5 spot was a bit of a shocker for me, Britney Spears tour was able to take in a healthy $38 million and $36 million of it was from the world tour.
The list was not filled with all old 80′s mega stars a lot of new comers are on the list. Pink took #6 with $36 million and her Funhouse world tour. The always famous Jonas Brothers nabbed the #7 spot with $33 million and their Lives, Vines and Trying Times tour. One that really shocked us because of how big her tour was in 2009 is Taylor Swift, who only took the #21 spot with $17 million. Lets see what 2010 brings us for tours, I know Lady Gaga is going to be on this list next year.

Yes you heard it right U2 the worlds biggest band is doing a free show. The only catch is you need to go to Berlin to see them as they will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The show will be on Thursday Nov 5 in front of Berlin’s Brandenburg gate. The show will also be part of the 16th MTV Europe Music Award. ‘It’ll be an exciting spot to be in, 20 years almost to the day since the wall came down’ said Paul McGuinnes, U2′s manager. Tickets for the free show went in about 3 min, so if you didn’t get them sorry you will have to turn on MTV Europe.

We are now under two months for the 2009 U2 tour to get to the US as all fans know by this point U2 is kicking off the US leg of the Tour in Chicago on Sep 12 and 13. Fans that have seen the show in other countries are saying the band has out done them self once again. The stage as you can see here is amazing taking up most of the field in the venues they are playing. Check back as we will have a review from the Chicago shows.

Thanks for helping us out U2

After buying many of the U2 shows around the world the last two weeks, the first thing we noticed was the face value on most of these shows. $250 for a lot of the lower level seats and many of these seats are not very close to the stage. The reason I bring this up is because U2 went out of there way to let us all know a few weeks ago that since the economy is so bad right now they would lower the ticket price. So, I ask what did they lower it from? U2 is playing some of the largest stadiums in the world for their 2009 tour, why nail fans for $250 plus fees?
The real kicker on this whole story is that all the shows have a general admission field, so they are getting even more people on to the field then if they had seats. Shows like this are starting to get out of hand, how much money does Bono need? No one ever seems to bring up the greed of these big name bands like U2, why is it U2 couldn’t do one tour that all tickets are $70? I guess $5 or $6 million a show isn’t enough for a band like this. It all comes down to if fans don’t say anything and keep buying the tickets what does the band care? Bono wants to help out people with Aids in Africa, but screw everyone else?
