I Love This One – Stephon Marbury to Play in China
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 | Boston Celtics, NBA, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Sports | No Comments
Ha ha ha! Stephon Marbury has agreed to play for the Shanxi pro basketball team in Taiyuan, China. Taiyuan is located about 250 miles from Beijing and the Shanxi team is in 12th place in a 17-team league with a 3-10 record. Classic.
Marbury has agreed to play for the team for only $25,000 per month. This after making multi-millions of dollars with a huge contract with the New York Knicks that ended with a mega-buyout during the course of the 2008-9 NBA season? Too funny.
Marbury says that he is excited to play in Chine – “I’ll communicate with the fans through my basketball. I think this will be a unique experience. To go overseas to play ball, to live for me it’s a challenge.” Good luck – let’s see how long this lasts?
I have a feeling once Marbury gets some traction with his new basketball shoes and apparel line in the Chinese market, he’ll say “zaijian” Taiyuan quicker than you can say “good-bye”…
Marbury confirms Boston wants to sign him
Monday, January 26th, 2009 | NBA | No Comments
Stephon Marbury has come out and confirmed the much rumored story that the Boston Celtics would sign him. This would happen only if Marbury can reach a buy out agreement. The Kincks star has not played in a game since last April. Marbury thinks the Knicks have not agreed to a buy out because the team does not want him to contribute to a championship run with Boston. The Knicks play the Celtics for the fourth and final time on Feb 6, will he be a Celtic or Knick?
Stephon Marbury is a pain in the a**
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 | NBA | No Comments
Marbury who was banished from the New York Knicks showed up to the game Tuesday night in LA to watch the game. He even paid for his ticket that was only a few seats from Spike Lee. Disrespectful Marbury spent most of the game on his cell phone and did interviews during halftime. He said “I’m still earning my check by doing nothing. I’m staying in shape. My mindset is to enjoy my life.”Marbury was suspended for one game without pay and docked an additional games salary after refusing coach D’Antoni’s request to play in Detroit. Marbury meet with the team to talk about buyout options but left the meeting with in 30 min and was told not to return to games or practices. Marbury doesn’t look to be in any big hurry to get out of his deal since he is still getting paid off his $21 million contract. During the buyout talks he was also quoted as saying. “even worry about it.” “Let them do what they’re going to do and make a decision when they’re ready to make a decision,” Man, this guy is the reason people hate over payed pro athletes .
