NCAA College Basketball Tournament Action Begins with a Bang

Thursday, March 18th, 2010 | College Basketball, Final Four, NCAA College Basketball, Sports | 1 Comment

NCAA Tourney action begin with a bang today with a few upsets and a few close-upsets.  There have already been 2 overtime games today — that’s how many overtime games there were in the ENTIRE 2009 NCAA basketball tournament.

In the 1st game of the day, Old Dominion (#11) pulled off the upset over Notre Dame (#6) 51-50 by outscoring the Fighting Irish by 7 points in the 2nd half.

Murray State (#13) pulled off the biggest upset of the day by defeating Vanderbilt (#4) 66-65 on a game-winning shot by Danero Thomas at the buzzer.

Robert Morris – a #15 seed – led #2 seed Villanova for much of the game, but couldn’t pull out the win.  They managed to force overtime and kept it close during the extra 5 minutes, but Villanova emerged victorious in the end – 73-70.

In the other overtime game, BYU (#7) pulled away from Floris (#10) in the second overtime period and won 99-92.

WOW – the tournament never fails to deliver – this is definitely the best post-season action in all of sports.

NCAA Basketball Tournament – Bring it On

Monday, March 15th, 2010 | College Basketball, Final Four, NCAA College Basketball, Sports | No Comments

Let’s dance — I love this time of year – bring on the NCAA College Basketball Tournament.

The conference tournaments were great this weekend, and there are sure to be plenty of upsets galore come Thursday and Friday in 1st round tourney action.

The #1 seeds include the Kansas Jayhawks, Kentucky Wildcats, Duke Blue Devils and the Syracuse Orangemen.

One key exclusion – Illinois.  Illinois beat Wisconsin for the 2nd time during the season in the Big Ten Conference Tournament and too tourney #2-seeded Ohio State to double-OT in the conference tourney semifinals.  What more do you have to do to convince the tournament selection committee that you deserve to be there?

Notre Dame drew a #6 seed and faces Old Dominion on Thursday in New Orleans.  Marquette also drew a #6 seed and faces Washington on Thursday in San Jose.

Can’t wait for exciting college basketball action to start during the 2010 NCAA College Basketball Tournament…

Urban Meyer to Step Down as Florida Gators Head Coach

Saturday, December 26th, 2009 | College Football, Notre Dame, Sports | No Comments

Florida Gators Head Coach Urban Meyer announced today that he will step down as the team’s coach after the Sugar Bowl on January 1st.  He is leaving the university for undisclosed medical reasons, but will coach the team against the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl.  This has shocked the college football world today.  The Bearcats also recently lost their head coach – Brian Kelly – who took the game with Notre Dame a few weeks ago.
