J.C. Romero

You deserve the 50 game suspension

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 | JC Romero, MLB | No Comments

romero1J.C. Romero will not play in the first 50 games Phillies because in 2007 he tested positive for a band drug. Romero was shocked when he was told about the results from MLB, how would he know that pills that advertised “Maximum testosterone production FOR HARDCORE USER ONLY” could have a band drug in it?  He was only looking for a over the counter drug or a vitamin. Come on who believes these pro athletes any more? Romero’s beef with the MLB is that the company had a drug in supplement not listed on the label so he claims he could never have known that it was a band drug. The only problem with this argument is that the same drug got a Olympic wrestler suspended for two years. So just a little bit of research would have showed Romero that this could be a bad drug to try out.

MLB has already been very clear when warning players about supplements. “It’s risky. Contamination is possible, The supplement industry is inadequately regulated. If a player chooses to use a supplement, he’d best adhere to baseball’s program that certifies certain supplements.” Also a source close to the story has said that Romero was told to stop using the drug and did, but then started it up again. So the 50 games is pretty much because he is dumb, what did he think zero tolerance means? The player is responsible for all that is in his body. MLB has been now saying this for years, your test come up dirty you pay the price. Playing dumb is not excuse.
