Danice Patrick Will Race in Nationwide Race at Daytona!

Danica Patrick announced this week that she will race at the Nationwide Series Race at Daytona International Speedway this weekend.  It will be Patrick’s “real” NASCAR debut.

Patrick raced in the “lower class” ARCA race at Daytona last weekend and finished in a respectable 6th place.  It was considered one of the sloppiest races in recent history with several crashes that patrick somehow avoided.  She even saved a nasty slide through the infield grass and despite falling way back in the race, she managed to work her way up for a solid 6th place finish.   Patrick indicated that she wouldn’t make a decision on the Nationwide race at Daytona this weekend until she got her first stock car race under her belt.  With her successful showing, it wasn’t a surprise at all that she decided to make her NASCAR debut this weekend.  “Racing in the Nationwide Series race was my goal during this entire two-month preparation process, but we wanted to make sure it was the right thing to do.  The ARCA race was a blast, and I’m not ready for my first Daytona Speedweeks to end just yet.  I want more racing.”

This weekend’s race should be fun to watch.  Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and her “boss” Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will also be racing.  I’m sure it will help ratings a ton too, so let’s hope last week’s success wasn’t a fluke and that Patrick can hang with the “big boys” this weekend in Daytona.  Stay tuned on Sunday afternoon for NASCAR’s opening weekend race at the Daytona 500!

Danica Patrick — Ready for Nascar 2010

Saturday, January 30th, 2010 | NASCAR, Sports | 1 Comment

Danica Patrick and her JR Motorsports team have announced that she will run at least 12 Nascar races in 2010.  It is unclear if she will race in the Nationwide Series opening race at the Dayton International Speedway on Saturday February 13, 2010.  It will likely depend on how well she fares in her 1st stock race – scheduled for the week before in the ARCA race at Daytona.  Here’s what Patrick had to say about her upcoming 2010 schedule – “Like I’ve said before, we just want to be smart and calculative about this process.  The tracks we’ve selected not only complement the IndyCar schedule, but will give me quality seat time at a variety of facilities.”

If she decides to skip the February 13th race at Daytona, she will make her NASCAR debut the following week in Fontana, California.  Then she will race on February 20th in Las Vegas before taking time off to focus on the IndyCar Series.  Her next NASCAR race after that will be at the end of June in New Hampshire.  She will make appearances across the country though, so you should be able to catch her wherever you live – Chicago in July; Michigan in August; Dover, Delaware in September; California and Charlotte in October; and Texas, Phoenix and Florida in November.

With that schedule, she is going to need a long vacation in December to recuperate.  Based on the schedule, it doesn’t sound like she’ll have a huge impact on the NASCAR landscape, but if she does well and is welcomed by other drivers and fans alike, we could see her add some more races in 2011. Her sex appeal doesn’t hurt either.  Stay tuned NASCAR fans…
