Carlos Zambrano
Zambrano’s out Marshall called in to lose
Saturday, August 8th, 2009 | Concerts | No Comments
Carlos Zambrano told the team Friday night at the last minute that he could not pitch. So the Chicago Cubs told reliever Sean Marshall to get ready to start Friday. ” I rushed to get dressed and get loose,” Marshall said. “That’s the first time I’ve done that. It was tough.” Zambrano is said to have a lower back injury and it is not clear if he will go on the DL. Carlos Z being the same ass he always is, can’t tell the team on the day off you are hurt? No lets wait 15 minutes before the game starts.

Zambrano hates Wrigley

Carlos Zambrano was trying to get his foot out of his mouth Monday after he upset Cubs fans with his comments about Wrigley Field. On Saturday he said, “You come into a ballpark like this and you see great things. You wish that Chicago’d build a new stadium for the Cubs.” and today he came back to say,
“I said anybody wants to have a new ballpark,” Zambrano said. “As a player, you feel like you’re trying to be more comfortable. As a player, you want to have the greatest ballpark in the National League, or the big leagues. As a fan, we should stay there. I don’t have a problem with Wrigley Field. That’s what I said.”
Does Zambrano care that many Cubs fans were mad at him for his comment?
“Why?” he said. “They don’t have to be mad. I didn’t say they have to build a new stadium. If the Cubs do it, we will be much better and more comfortable, as a player.”
I think most of us can read between the lines, Carlos doesn’t like Wrigley but who can blame him? We have heard for years that players hate the locker room and the facility for players. Its an old park with a lack of space so the team can’t do much unless they move the park. I don’t think anyone thinks that is going to happen people come out to see the stadium its the biggest selling point for the Cubs.
You have to hand it to Carlos he knows how to make a buzz a week before opening day today was going to be the White Sox opening day and once again people are talking about the Cubs.
Here We Go Again… Cubs Lose in the Playoffs?!
Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 | Sports | No Comments
The Chicago Cubs turned in another lackluster playoff performance, losing 7-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in front of more than 41,000 diehard Cubs fans at the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field. After taking an early 2-0 lead on Mark DeRosa’s 2nd inning home run, the Dodgers scored the next 7 runs en route to a dominating win over the deflated Cubs. It was the Cubs 7th consecutive post-season loss. Ryan Dempster walked 7 batters in less than 5 innings of work. Twice, he walked the bases loaded in an inning. He worked out of his own-bases-loaded jam in the 3rd inning, but his luck ran out in the 5th inning when James Loney crushed a 1-2 splitfinger fastball over the center field fence for a Grand Slam that put the Dodgers ahead for good. The Dodgers added home runs by Manny Ramirez and Russell Martin, and although the Cubs out-hit the Dodgers 9-8, they never managed any other threats throughout the rest of the game. NLDS Game #2 features Chad Billingsley for the Dodgers and Carlos Zambrano for the Cubs in a must-win game for the Cubs.
