Bulls are going to game 7

The Bulls pulled out a big win Thursday night in Chicago 128-127 in triple overtime. This is the fourth game to go into overtime, two of them went into multiple OTs. This game had it all Rajon Rondo threw Kirk Hinrich into a table and Ray Allen scored an amazing 51 points. These two teams are playing like this is the finals and in reality its only the first round. The Bulls unlikely savior Joakim Noah had a big steal with 38.9 seconds in the third OT that got him 2 and got Pierce to commit his sixth and final foul. Derrick Rose showed Rajon Rondo who’s house he was in with a block in the third OT with only 8.2 seconds left. These games bring back the memories of MJ, Bulls fans haven’t been this excited about basketball in years. Game 7 is Saturday in Boston and I’m sure all of Chicago will be watching this game.
Bulls beat Celtics on Saint Patrick’s Day

The Chicago Bulls stormed back from a 13-point deficit to beat the Celtics even after Pierce’s has 37 points. John Salmons had tied a career high 38 points which helped the Bulls win 127-121. The Celtics were coming off an 86-77 loss at Milwaukee on Sunday and set a season low points and this is not helping the team trying to lock down home-court advantage in the playoffs. This is not the first time in the last week the Bulls have shocked us, on Saturday they beat New Orleans 97-79 who is also a playoff-bound team. The Bulls shot 70 percent in the fourth quarter, and Miller scored 13 of his 21 points.

Kobe who?

It seems like almost every day we read a story about LeBron James and his amazing skill of taking over any game. Last night was no different. The cavs star had an amazing 38 point game ageist the Celtics and are now 19-0 at home. Boston who had a 27-2 start having been on a downward trend since that amazing trend. James had 23 points in the second half with seven rebounds, six assists, four steals, and three blocks in 35 minutes. This ended up being the second worst loss for the Celtics all seasons. Paul Pierce who is averaging 19.5 points a game was held to 11 by James on 4 of 15 shooting. James who many think is this years MVP sure looks like it after this game. The other Boston stars didn’t have a stellar game with Garnett scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds Rondo adding 13 assists but only shot 41 percent. People have always been talking about Kobe and how he is the next MJ, I’m no basketball expert but LeBron has looked a lot better the last few years.
Knicks beat Celtics

Not that long ago the Boston Celtics had a 19-game winning streak to start off there season and now they are in a slump so bad the Knicks beat them. The Knicks have not beat the Celtics in NY since 2005 and this snapped a eight game losing streak. Wilson Chandler had a big game for the Kincks with 31 points and Al Harrington scored 30 points. Kevin Garnett didn’t even show up for the game going 1-for-6 for six points. Paul Pierce did come to play he had a great 31 point game and Ray Allen helped out with 16. “We’ve just got to come together,” Pierce said. “We talked about it after the game amongst the players, what we’re doing right, what we’re doing wrong, and the good thing about this group, we’re a strong group”
I think the Stephon Marbury deal that everyone is talking about is starting to look real good to the Celtics right now. After losing three of four on the West Coast road trip over the holidays this team needs to look deep to pull out a repeat. Most players would be willing to try out Marbury even ex teammate Garnett. Rajon said “We can’t really worry about it all, We’ve got to go out there and go with the staff at hand.” Looks like we will have to wait until June to see how this all turns out.
Celtics win 18th straight game

The Boston Celtics won their 18th straight game on Sunday beating the Knicks 124-105. Rajon Rondo was the start of the game with 26 points moving Boston’s record to 26-2, if they can win the game on Tuesday night this would put the Celtics as the best start by a team with only two losses. Kevin Garneett said after the game, “Rondo was unbelievable the third quarter”, He totally took the game over.”
Only two other teams in history have had a 26-2 start the Knicks in 1969-70 and Philadelphia in 1966-67, both went to win NBA titles. Rondo was not the only one with a good game, Ray Allen had 18 points, Paul Pierce 17, Perkins 12, and Garnett 12 showing why this team is an unstoppable force. This was the Knicks fourth straight loss and its eighth straight loss to Boston. Glen Davis was injured Sunday on his way to the game on the Massachusetts Turnpike. He was taken to the hospital and was released after the game.

Bulls Struggle in Loss to Defending Champion Celtics

The Boston Celtics defeated the Chicago Bulls 96-80 in the 2nd game of the NBA season for each club. The Bulls fell to 1-1, while the Celtics kept their perfect season intact. The Celtics outscored the Bulls 24-13 in the 1st quarter en route to a 49-31 halftime lead. The Celtics stifled the Bulls’ offense with a tenacious defense, never allowing the Bulls to mount any serious run in the 2nd half. Although the Bulls played even with the Celtics in the 2nd half (49-47), the Celtics cruised to the 96-80 victory.
In his 2nd game in the NBA, 1st overall pick Derrick Rose scored a team high 18 points, but only had 1 assist and 4 rebounds. Tyrus Thomas had another good showing – 11 points and 6 rebounds – while Luol Deng chipped in 8 points and 8 boards. Ben Gordon had 11 points off the bench and Joakim Noah had 13 rebounds in limited time off the bench.
The Celtics played a typical well-balanced game. The Celtics had 5 players with double-digit scoring, including 14 points each from Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Center Kendrick Perkins chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. Leonard Powe had another productive night off the bench with 13 points and 6 boards.
This game typified the task that the Bulls face during the 2008-9 campaign. As was evident last night, the Bulls will be over-matched against the upper echelon NBA teams. They might win a few of those games here and there, but Vinny Del Negro must ensure that his players stay focused during the games that they should win (like in the home opener against the Bucks and like in tonight’s game against the Grizzlies). In these games, the Bulls will need to use their athletic talent to their advantage in order to take the game to the other team. The Bulls should win these games, but because of their youth and the fact that they are being led by a first-year coach, there is a risk that some of these games could fall from their grasp. If they can consistently win these games early in the season, this should build confidence and potentially spur the team on during games against the more talented NBA teams. Tonight’s game against the Grizzlies is a big game (if there is such a thing in the 3rd game of an NBA season). A Bulls win shows that Del Negro and the Bulls will be able to shake off demoralizing losses, while a Bulls loss could mean that Del Negro and the players should expect more losses than wins in 2008-9.
