After there first surprise show in Chicago Them Crooked Vultures has officially gone on tour. They will be playing small venues throughout the country. This new super band has a lot to live up to since there has been a lot of talk about the band. I can tell you as someone that was at the Chicago show no one will be let down by this group. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen.

Them Crooked Vultures at The Metro

So I will try my best to review the Them Crooked Vultures show from last night at the Metro after a lot of beer and only a few hours of sleep. Yes, I was lucky enough to be one of the 1,000 or so fans to get tickets to this amazing 12-song, 80 minute set with Dave Grohl on the drums, Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, and the always legendary John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin. There were rumors this weekend that the group did not want to play Lollapalooza because they wanted there debut in the super small Metro.
This new band amazed me with there hard rock/bluesy sound, I cannot wait for this album to be released. John Paul Jones hands down was the show stopper for me last night as he can amaze anyone when he takes the stage. Jones must have switched up his base about four times through out the show and at one point had some instrument with a digital screen that I have never seen before. Dave Grohl also brought such a fire to the drums last night the crowed was knocked on its ass. With most shows in club of this size vocals are not always easy to make out which was the case last night, but Homme was just as much a show stopper he made the crowed want 20 more songs.
On Oct 23 I highly recommend everyone to download this album. As someone that is a fan of hard rock and bands like the Black Keys this new mega group will have the best of both. Out of all of the live shows I have seen over the years this will go down as one of my top three. For a group of guys that have not played live before I was only able to point out one song that needs some work. You can tell when a band truly loves what they do and they want to be there and last night these guys gave it there all.
Them Crooked Vultures set list: “Elephants,” “New Fang,” “Scumbag Blues,” “Dead End Friends,” “Bandoliers,” “Mind Eraser (No Chaser),” “Gunman,” “Daffodils,” “Interlude w/ Ludes,” “Caligulove,” “Warsaw,” “Nobody Loves Me.”
Update: Here is a video I found of the show. It was so hard to take any kind of photos or videos security was on anyone that tried to take anything.

THEM CROOKED VULTURES, the new supergroup featuring Josh Homme (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) , John Paul Jones (LED ZEPPELIN) and Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS), is rumored to be playing a last-minute Lollapalooza after-show party on Sunday, August 9 Midnight at the Metro in Chicago, Illinois.
There is talk in Chicago that the Foo Fighters are playing a secret show at the Metro in Chicago this Sunday night @ midnight. Nothing has been confirmed 100% but from what I have seen it does look like they are. Check back Thursday when we can confirm this rumor, and yes we will have tickets to the show.
