Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 | College Basketball, Final Four, NCAA College Basketball, Sports
The Duke Blue Devils defeated the Butler Bulldogs 61-59 to win the Final Four College Basketball Championship. It was the 4th NCAA title for Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Duke’s senior trio of leaders led the way to victory once again. Kyle Singler scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Nolan Smith scored 13 points and had 4 assists. Jon Scheyer may have had the best all-around game with 15 points, 6 rebound and 5 assists.
For Butler, Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack each scored 12 points to lead the squad. Matt Howard chipped in 11 points, while Avery Jukes also added 10 points.
Duke’s win ended Butler’s underdog run through the whole entire tournament. It was a new feeling for Butler who hadn’t lost a game since they dropped a 10-point decision at UAB on December 22nd.
What a great battle, a great game to watch and a great way to end the 2009-2010 NCAA College Basketball Season…
