Tiger Woods To “Appear & Speak” Today
Friday, February 19th, 2010 | Golf, Sports, Tiger Woods | No Comments
At 11am EST this morning, Tiger Woods will break his silence. It’s about time.
We have not heard directly from Woods since he smashed his car against a tree outside his house in the early morning of November 27th. Since then, we’re not entirely sure what he’s been up to.
At least a dozen women have come forward claiming sexual relations with the world’s best golfer. It is unclear if his wife – Elin Nordegren-Woods – will be willing to forgive the superstar for his transgressions. It is also unclear whether Woods will golf this year.
What will we get out of Tiger on Friday? Probably not much. Woods and his entourage have complete control over the “appearance”. Only friends, colleagues and close associates will be permitted in the Sunset Room of the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse on Friday. Three networks will carry the statement live – ABC, CBS and NBC. The Associated Press, Reuters and Bloomberg will each have one writer present, while the Golf Writers Association will have 3 writers present. Woods will not be taking any questions during the appearance.
Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg had this to say about what we can expect: “While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between he and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends and that’s what he’s going to discuss.”
I have a feeling that this will be totally overblown. It’s probably not going to be anything special and we probably won’t get all the answers we want. My only hope is that Elin is there right by his side standing by his man – how great would that be – like any good “politicians’ wife”…

Bulls Start 2nd Half off with Blowout Win over Knicks
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 | Chicago Bulls, NBA, New York Knicks, Sports | No Comments
The Chicago Bulls started off the 2nd half with a dominating 118-852 win over the New York Knicks at the United Center on Tuesday night. The Bulls outscored the Knicks in each quarter and shot over 60% from the floor for the game.
More importantly, Bulls star guard Derrick Rose led the way with 29 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists. He made 14 of his 18 field goals and showed little adverse affects from the bruised hip he suffered in the final game before the All-Star Break. Head Coach Vinny Del Negro took no chances with the Bulls leading by so much – he limited Rose to just 27 minutes during the contest.
Luol Deng chipped in 18 points, Taj Gibson grabbed 10 boards, while Kirk Hinrich scored 14 points with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Bulls got back to .500 with the win. The Bulls are in a 3-way tie for the 6-7-8 seeds in the Eastern Conference with the Charlotte Bobcats and the Miami Heat. The Bulls battle the Knicks in the home-and-home series at Madison Square Garden in New York City tonight.
Lindsey Vonn Wins Gold Medal in Women’s Apline Downhill Race
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 | Olympics Vancouver, Sports, Vancouver Olympics, Winter Olympics | No Comments
Lindsey Vonn captured the Gold Medal in the women’s Alpine Downhill race in Vancouver today. Dealing with a painful bruised shin suffered during Olympics training, it was a huge win for Vonn. “This is everything I’ve wanted and hoped for” said a thrilled Vonn after the race results posted. Fellow American Julia Mancuso took a surprise Silver Medal in the competitive field. It was the 3rd time that 2 Americans have finished in 1st and 2nd place in an Olympic Alpin skiing event, but the first time since the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo.
Vonn had also been dealing with criticism for her “risque” cover pose on Sports Illustrated Olympics Preview issue and for appearing in SI’s Swimsuit Issue. She put all of her critics to rest with a stellar performance on the slopes today. Congrats Lindsey!
Let the Lollapalooza rumors start
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 | Concerts, Lollapalooza | No Comments
The Lollapalooza rumors have started and if true it could be a big 3 day fest. Right now we are hearing Lady Gaga, Soundgarden and Green Day as possible headliners for the 2010 Lollapalooza. Lady Gaga’s 2009 tour was a sell out smash hit in the US, fans couldn’t get enough of her shows so if she does do palooza this year it will be a sure hit. She is also about to start the world part of her tour and will be in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and Japan. There is also talk of Arcade Fire and the Strokes joining the 2010 line up. No one from Lolla is talking yet so as soon as its confirmed we will update you.

United States Olympics Team Off to Good Start with 8 Medals
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 | Olympics Vancouver, Sports, Winter Olympics | No Comments
The United States Olympics team is off to a good start with 8 total medals (2 golds, 2 silvers and 4 bronze).
Lindsey Vonn is still battling a nasty shin injury, but expects to benefit from the rainy weather as races continue to get pushed back a few days. The rest will surely help this Olympics favorite.
Apolo Anton Ohno and J.R. Celski won the Silver and Bronze in the Men’s 15000M speed skating short track on Saturday.
Hannah Kearney and Shannon Bahrke won Gold and Bronze in the Freestyle Women’s Mogul competition on Saturday.
Bode Miller also won a Bronze medal in the Alpine Skiing Men’s Downhill on Monday after a disappointing showing in the 2006 Olympics.
The United States hockey team got off to a great start today with a dominating 3-1 win over Switzerland. Robert Ryan, David Backes and Ryan Malone each scored goals in the U.S. win. Goalie Ryan Miller saved 14 of 15 shots on goal by the Swiss and just missed out on a shutout as the Swiss scored with under 10 minutes left in regulation.
The only negative — LindseyJacobellis followed up her 2006 snow-boarding blunder with another blunder in today’s semifinals race. Jacobellis lost an edge coming off of a jump and could not regain her balance. She ended up riding through a gate and the spin out knocked her out of the race. It’s a medal-less Olympics for Jacobellis again in 2010 – and who knows if she’ll still be around in 2014 to erase 2 years of blunders in the snowboarding championship…

Blackhawks Hit Stride Before Olympic Break
Monday, February 15th, 2010 | Chicago Blackhawks, NHL, Sports | No Comments
The Chicago Blackhawks are riding a 4-game winning streak into the Olympics break. Over the weekend, the Hawks won in a shootout on back-to-back nights. In Saturday night’s win over the Thrashers at home at the United Center, Jonathan Toews scored the game winner in the first round of the shootout, while Antti Niemi made all 3 saves in the shootout.
In Sunday night’s win over the Blue Jackets in Columbus, Troy Brouwer scored the game winner in the 4th round of the shootout.
In a surpise move, goalie Antti Niemi started both games for the Hawks even though the team played on consecutive days. Niemi started all 4 games for the Hawks in their current winning streak and he is now 17-4-1 on the season. He has a spectacular 2.16 goal against average.
The Blackhawks are 41-15-5 on the season with 87 points. The Hawks trail the Sharks for the top seed in the Western Conference by just 2 points and they have a sizable 11-point cushion in front of the #3 seed Vancouver Canucks.
We Are The World is back

So after 25 years they did a remake of We Are The World, and all of the Hollywood crazies showed up. I was very surprised at some of the people they asked to be in the song, Justin Bieber? No one is going to know who this kid is in 2 years, but I really don’t care that much. I think the original one was way better. Check out everyone yelling below.
