One more sponsor gone for Tiger

Thursday, December 31st, 2009 | Golf, Tiger Woods | No Comments

AT&T announced today that they will no longer sponsor Tiger Woods, joining a growing list of firms that are dropping or cutting back sponsorship of the super star. All of this comes after the numerous allegations of infidelities continues to grow. AT&T does not use Woods’ image in advertising, but they do have  logo on his golf bag. The deal that is multi-year that was signed in 2009. Woods also has hosted the AT&T National PGA tour since 2007. AT&T will still sponsor the event which is heal in Newtown Square, PA in July.

Some of the other companies to drop Tiger this year are Accenture, Gillette, Tag Heauer, and Electroic Arts who has not made a definite plans on their future with Woods’. Electronic Arts is the maker of the wildly famous “Tiger Woods PGA Tour” which is a series of golf video games.

I think many people can agree with me that it’s hard to feel bad for this guy, you have $500 million dollars and you couldn’t keep your hands to your self. This just helps back my belief that 99% of famous people are morons.

Bulls Top Pacers 104-95; 7th Seed in East?!

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 | Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, NBA, Sports | No Comments

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Indiana Pacers 104-95 at the United Center on Tuesday night.  With the win, the Bulls are now 12-17 – good for the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference.  What a joke?!

For now, it looks like Vinny Del Negro’s job is safe.  Derrick Rose led the Bulls with a dominating performance – 28 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds (he did have 6 turnovers however).  Luol Deng continues to be a consistent presence for the Bulls – 15 points and 8 rebounds.  “Bench” players also were the key to success in the win:  Tyrus Thomas grabbed 15 boards and was clearly missed by the Bulls as he recovered from a broken arm injury.  John Salmons poured in 17 points while Brad Miller chipped in 16.

The Bulls close out 2009 with a trip to Detroit to play the Pistons on New Year’s Eve.  The Pistons have lost 8 straight games, so the Bulls are hoping they can make that 9 in a row…

Who is Justin Bieber?

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009 | Concerts, Justin Bieber | No Comments

A few months ago I had no idea who Justin Bieber was, maybe I am just getting old. People are buying tickets for this kid like crazy and now I find out he played for the President? Life is really going to suck for this kid once his voice changes, but I guess there will always be some VH1 reality show for him to be on.

Is Vinny on his way out?

Monday, December 28th, 2009 | Chicago Bulls | No Comments

ESPN is reporting that Vinny Del Negro is on his way out and that the Chicago Bulls have already made the decision to fire him as soon as a replacement can be found. There have been discussions within the Bulls organization to have John Paxson, the executive vice president of basketball operations, take over as the coach, but he declined this idea.  Also, according to ESPN’s sources the Bulls called Doug Collins, who was a candidate two years ago for the job before Del Negor was hired, but he was said to have turned them down.

There are plenty of available coaches in the NBA, Byron Scott was just fired by New Orleans and would fit much better then Del Negor. There is also, Avery Johnson, Jeff Van Gundy, Sam Mitchell, and Lawrence Franks. Scott, Johnson, and Mitchell have all been coaches of the year. It is rumored that Avery Johnson will go to New Orleans or New Jersey so Chicago may be out of luck with him.

Florida Gators Head Coach Urban Meyer announced today that he will step down as the team’s coach after the Sugar Bowl on January 1st.  He is leaving the university for undisclosed medical reasons, but will coach the team against the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl.  This has shocked the college football world today.  The Bearcats also recently lost their head coach – Brian Kelly – who took the game with Notre Dame a few weeks ago.

Raptors Magic Basketball

Merry Christmas from your friends at Ticket Chest – we hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday season and a great 2010!

Enjoy some great NBA action today:

The defending Eastern Conference Champion Orlando Magic host the 2008 defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics at 2:30PM Eastern time on Christmas Day.  Paul Pierce leads the way for the 21-5 Celtics who have the best record in the Eastern Conference to date.  Vince Carter and Dwight Howard lead the way for the Magic who are 21-7 overall and right no the heels of the Celtics.

At 5PM Eastern time, the defending NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers host the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Kobe Bryant is averaging over 28 points per game and has had some incredible game-winning shots of late to lead the 22-4 Lakers.  Lebron James will be making his last appearance in a Cavs uniform in L.A. (unless the 2 teams meet in the NBA Finals this year) and continues to lead the way for the Cavs by averaging over 28 points per game.

Can’t ask for better NBA game action than this…

Cleveland Browns Finally Have Something to Cheer About – Josh Cribbs & Jerome Harrison

Thursday, December 24th, 2009 | Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, NFL, Sports | No Comments

cleveland browns win james harrison josh cribbs1

The Cleveland Browns defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 41-34 on Sunday for their 3rd win of the NFL schedule.  Now granted, it was only a win against another 3-win team, but Josh Cribbs and Jerome Harrison showed why they could be forces to be reckoned with in the near future.

Josh Cribbs is clearly the best returner in the game today.  Cribbs set an NFL record by returning 2 kickoffs for touchdowns of at least 100 yards each in the same game.  His 1st 100-yard return came in the 1st quarter and gave the Browns a 10-3 lead.  His 2nd return of 103 yards cut an 11-point deficit to just 4 points right before the end of the 1st half.  That had to give the Browns confidence going into halftime.

Running back Jerome Harrison became the 2nd half story with 3 rushing touchdowns.  On the day, Harrison rushed the ball 34 times for 286 yards.  His final 28-yard touchdown came with just 43 seconds remaining in the game and proved to be the game winner.

It has been a rough season for new Browns Head Coach Eric Mangini and Quarterback Brady Quinn, but at least Browns had a lot to cheer about this past Sunday with the Cribbs and Harrison performances.

Quarterbacks Rule – Ben Roethlisberger & Aaron Rodgers Shine in Steelers 37-36 Win Over Packers

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009 | General, Green Bay Packers, NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers, Sports | No Comments

pittsburgh steelers ben roethlisberger green bay packers aaron rodgers

What a game – the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Green Bay Packers 37-36 on Ben Roethlisberger’s 19-yard TD pass to Mike Wallace as time expired.  The TD tied the game at 36 and then Jeff Reed’s point after attempt gave the Steelers the win and kept their slim AFC playoff hopes alive at 7-7.

Roethlisberger had a career day – 29 of 46 for 503 yards passing. He threw 3 touchdown passes without any picks.  All good for a 121.9 passer rating.

Aaron Rodgers himself had a solid day in defeat – 26 of 48 for 383 yards.  He also threw 3 touchdown passes without any picks.  He also added a touchdown run in the 2nd quarter.  Rodgers’ passer rating was 101.3.

The Packers are 9-5 and sit in pretty good shape to qualify for post-season play in the NFC.  The defending Super Bowl champion Steelers are 7-7 and will need some help if they want to defend their title in 2010…
