Dolphins Top Jets 31-27 in Thrilling Monday Night Football
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 | Chad Henne, Mark Sanchez, Miami Dolphins, Monday Night Football, New York Jets, NFL, Ronnie Brown, Sports, Thomas Jones | No Comments

What a game! What a battle between 2 AFC East division rivals! The last team with the ball ended up winning phenomenal 4th quarter football. The Dolphins and Jets did something in the 4th quarter that no teams had done in the history of the NFL. The 2 teams combined for 5 touchdowns in the 4th quarter, and while this feat has been done before, it was the 1st time that each score created a lead change for the team scoring. Unbelievable, especially from 2 young QB’s.
Here’s how it all went down. The Jets led the Dolphins 13-10 at halftime and after a flat, scoreless 4th quarter, the Jets still maintained a slim 3-point lead on the road in Miami. But that’s when all hell broke loose.
Just 43 seconds into the 4th quarter, Chad Henne hit Anthony Fasano with a 2-yard TD pass to give the Dolphins a 17-13 lead.
With just over 12 minutes left, young Jets QB led the Jets on a stellar drive that culminated in a 1 yard TD run by Thomas Jones to give the Jets the 20-17 lead.
But it only took Henne a little over 2 minutes to give the Dolphins the lead back. This time Henne hit Ted Ginn Jr. for a 53-yard catch and run that gave the Dolphins a 24-20 lead.
After another solid drive by Sanchez and the Jets, Thomas Jones capped off the scoring drive with his 2nd TD of the quarter. The Jets led 27-24.
But Henne wanted to give the hometown crowd something to cheer about. With just over 5 minutes to play, Henne led the Dolphins on a 70-yard touchdown drive that ended with a Ronnie Brown 2 uyard TD run that gave the Dolphins the lead for good at 31-27.
Crazy stuff, but fun to watch.
Young QB Sanchez had another good start – 12 of 24 for 172 yards with 1 TD and no interceptions – good for an 87.5 passer rating.
Young QB Henne had an even better game – 20 of 26 for 241 yards with 2 TD’s and no interceptions – good for a 130.4 passer rating.
The Jets have now lost 2 in a row, but they are still tied atop the AFC East with the New England Patriots with a 3-2 record. The Dolphins may have salvaged their season with the come-from-behind win – they are just 1 game behind each of the Jets and Patriots at 2-3.

Blackhawks with the comeback of the year
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 | Chicago Blackhawks, NHL | No Comments

The Chicago Blackhawks just started off the season and if Monday night is a sign of how this season is going to play out, fans are in for a crazy 2009-2010. The Hawks were down 5-0 early on Monday night against the Calgary Flames, but this did not stop them from what could be the comeback of the year to win. To make things worse for the Flames last year the Blackhawks knocked them out of the playoffs in the first round. With last nights win the Blackhawks have matched the biggest comeback in NHL history, rallying from the five-goal deficit and wining 6-5 on Seabrook’s goal 26 seconds into overtime.
“We weren’t playing our game. Once we did, getting forechecking, getting pucks to the net, we realized we could get back in the game and get a win,” Seabrook said.
The Flames unloaded on goaltender Cristobal Huet in the first period with goals by Dustin Boyd, Eric Nystrom, and Jarome Iginla in a span of 53 seconds, prompting coach Joel Quenneville to pull him for Antti Niemi. Niemi also struggled right off giving up two more goals to let the Flames build up the 5-0 lead. The five goals only took 5:29 on six shots. The hawks never die attitude helped in the second-period with goals from Patrick Kane, Dustin Byfuglien, and Dave Bolland to put them at 5-4. This was the game that fans did not want to miss and if you did you are kicking your self today.

Worst NFL Game Ever? Browns Top Bills 6-3 in Buffalo
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 | Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Derrek Anderson, Jamal Lewis, NFL, Sports, Terrell Owens, Trent Edwards | No Comments

The 0-4 Browns earned their 1st 2009 victory with a thrilling 6-3 win over the 1-3 Bills in Buffalo on Sunday. Could this be the worst NFL game ever played? The teams were scoreless after the 1st quarter and the Browns led 3-0 at halftime. Although the Bills tied it at 3 on Rian Lindell’s 36-yard field goal in the 3rd quarter, the teams went scoreless for the game’s next 24+ minutes until Billy Cundiff kicked the game winning field goal with just 23 seconds remaining in the game.
Gotta love the fans calling for Dick Jauron’s job after just 5 games. And it looks like the Terrell Owens experiment has already failed in Buffalo. In Sunday’s game, Owens caught just 4 passes for 44 yards, with a long reception of just 18 yards. So far this season, Owens has just 12 catches for 202 yards with only 1 touchdown reception. The most catches in a game for Owens was Sunday with 4. Ouch.
But back to the game – just how bad was it:
Browns QB Derrek Anderson was just 2 of 17 for 23 total yards passing. He had 1 interception god for a 15.1 passer rating. His season passer rating is now 39.0 Compared to Anderson, Bills’ QB Trent Edwards looked like Joe Montana in his heyday – 16 of 31 for 152 yards and 1 interception good for a 52.1 passer rating. The Browns’ Jamal Lewis did rush for 117 yards on 31 carries, but the team managed just 9 total 1st downs. The Bills had 13 1st downs and 288 total net yards, but they also had 2 lost fumbles to end drives. Not good. The Browns snapped a 10-game losing streak dating back to last season, while the Bills have now lost 12 of 15 games. Bad, bad, bad…
The lone bright spot – Browns’ punter Dave Zastudil landed 7 of his 9 punts inside the Bills 20 yard line. His last punt was so wobbly and difficult to pick up, that Bills’ returned Rosoce Parrish muffed the punt allowing the Browns to recover the ball at the Bills 16 yard line to set up the winning field goal.
Gotta love NFL Football…
