The Bulls accomplished a few major milestones on Friday night. With the 109-98 win over the Kings in Sacramento, the Bulls won for the first time in that venue since 1997 – when Michael Jordan played for the Bulls. The Bulls also won back-to-back road games for the first time all season long. The starting 5 continues to play well together. Here are the numbers:
Ben Gordon – 20 points
Derrick Rose – 4 points, 11 assists
Joakim Noah – 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots
Luol Deng – 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals
Tyrus Thomas – 14 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots
Although the Kings out-rebounded the Bulls 44-37, the Bulls out-shot the Kings 56% to 36% and made 4 of 11 3-point attempts.
The Bulls are now 20-27 and trail the Milwaukee Bucks by 1.5 games for the race for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.

Whoops!
Not a good night in L.A. for the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks fell behind the Kings 3-0 after 2 periods in Los Angeles and never had enough to make it close down the stretch. Dave Bolland’s 9th goal of the season cut the Kings lead to 3-1 7 minutes into the 3rd period, but the Kings answered with Alexander Frolov’s 21st goal of the season just 40 seconds later. One bright spot – Patrick Sharp scored his 22nd goal of the season. The Kings only took 25 total shots, but they made them count – scoring on 4 of them plus their empty netter. Cristobal Huet fell to 12-9-3 on the year. The Blackhawks are now 26-13-8 with 60 points. They are still locked into the 4th seed in the Western Conference, 7 points ahead of each of the Edmonton Oilers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Phoenix Coyote and Anaheim Ducks. They also have at least 1 game in hand against each of those teams.

Australia has had record breaking heat the last week, but this has not stopped Serena Williams from rolling over Dinara Safina for her 10th Grand Slam title and bring her back to No. 1. Williams dominated the court and made it look almost easy wining back to back majors she won the US open back in September. “I absolutely, clearly, love playing here,” said the 27-year-old super star. Williams is now only the seventh woman to get double-digit Grand Slam singles titles. The last player to win back to back majors single titles was Justine Henin back in 2003. In the first game, Safian double-faulted three times, including on break point. Williams ran off 18 of the last 20 points to finish in 22 minutes. Williams earned $1.3 million for winning the Australian title and has career earnings of more than $23 million. Serena and her sister Venus won there eighth women’s doubles crown on Friday and have two mixed-doubles championships.
