Plaxico is very dumb

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 | NFL, Plaxico Burress | No Comments

plaxicoThere are reports today that authorities have seized a small cache of weapons and ammunition from the NJ home of Plaxico Burress. This could add more legal trouble to the already controversial wide receiver. Anonymous sources are saying police found a 9-mm handgun, a .380, .45, .40, and a rifle and ammo for three more guns.  On Nov 29 Plaxico shot himself at a club in NY with a .40 caliber gun the same kind found at his home. If any of the weapons are unregistered, Plaxico could face more charges on top of the two he was slapped with following the night he shot himself. The police also found a suitcase full of money that was not seized during the search.

Burress has had nothing but trouble all year he was suspended for two games before he shot himself and is now out for the rest of the season. The team also withheld $1 million of his signing bonus after the shooting. Burress was also sued in FL last week after hitting a woman in May with his $140,000 Mercedes that was not insured. Burress is set to be back in court on March 31 and if convicted could face 3 1/2 years in prison on each count he is charged with.

This guy makes OJ and Michael Vick look like geniuses, never thought I would say that about anyone. Plaxico you just shot yourself in the leg, you can’t take the guns out of your house in three weeks? Never crossed your mind that it might be a good idea to get the guns out of your house? But seriously, at this point I blame the teams and the NFL. The players union is not much better, I can’t believe they are filing a grievance that he didn’t get $1 million of his signing bonus in Dec. How about this, lets ban one of these guys for life. If you are getting paid $35 million to play a game you should be held up to a higher standard. So, if you get busted with a gun and then get arrested two months later, how about BANNED FOR LIFE. That means no pay, no getting back into the NFL. You are out for life. All of the BS the NFL has tried so far has not worked. These guys don’t care if you fine them $200,000 when they are making $50 million. Kick them out and maybe the next time a someone wants to take a gun to a bar it will keep them from doing it, but if not, great just keep banning people for life. At some point players will learn and we will weed out the bad people. NFL, NBA, MLB all only care about one thing, money and because of this players can do what they want and it is killing pro sports. It is a sad time for all pro sports, I guess it will take a player killing someone for the leagues to do something drastic.
