Vikings lose what will the Bears do?

Monday, December 22nd, 2008 | Chicago Bears, NFL | No Comments

brett-favre-bearsIt will be a warm -15 below with the windchill on Monday night in Chicago and the Bears are taking on the Packers. Back in Nov the Packers rolled over the Bears with a 37-3 win but a lot has changed since then. Fast forward to Dec 22 and the Bears are now 8-6 and the Packers are a sad 5-9. It looks like this game is only important to the Bears right now since they need to win the next two to make it into the playoffs. Also, the Bears expected Matt Forte to be in the lineup on Monday after dealing with injured right toe. Forte is 8th in the NFL with 1,115 yards and seven touchdowns, the Bears defiantly need all there best players on the field for the last two games.

If the Bears do lose tonight they still have a shot for a wild-card spot. The Bears need to win the next two and Philadelphia needs to beat Dallas at home. On top of this Oakland needs to defeat Tampa Bay on the road. All of these are very reasonable situations, but with the Bears who knows what team will come out to play. Lovie Smith is only focusing on Monday nights game and not worrying about the Playoffs right now.  The Bears need everything to go perfect the next week for them to make it in the Playoffs and lets see if the Packers of Nov take the field. I’m going to make a crazy prediction and say the Bears are going to win this game tonight.

NFC top team beats Panthers

Monday, December 22nd, 2008 | NFL | No Comments

brandon_jacobsThe New York Giants are working their way to the Super Bowl once again this year. The Giants beat the Panthers in overtime with a 2-yard TD by Brandon Jacobs with 9:57 left to play. Derrick Wared had a career best game with 215 yards of rushing. This win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Giants and Eli Manning was very happy that the streak was broken at home. “It’s great for our fans to be able to play here at Giants Stadium,” Manning said.

The weather was very cold and snowy at one point fans tossed snowballs onto the field.  NY forced the overtime when Jacobs scored a TD with 3:21 to play. Jacob who was coming back from a knee injury had three short TD. The Panthers DeAngelo Williams had a record-tying four TD runs and had a 30 yard TD run 2 minutes into the final quarter. The Panthers will also be in the playoffs and can clinch the NFC south with a win at New Orleans next week. “Disappointing would be putting it mildly,” Panthers quarterback Delhomme said. “We’ve got to back to work and get ready for New Orleans.”

Celtics win 18th straight game

Monday, December 22nd, 2008 | NBA | No Comments

celtics-dancersThe Boston Celtics won their 18th straight game on Sunday beating the Knicks 124-105. Rajon Rondo was the start of the game with 26 points moving Boston’s record to 26-2, if they can win the game on Tuesday night this would put the Celtics as the best start by a team with only two losses. Kevin Garneett said after the game, “Rondo was unbelievable the third quarter”, He totally took the game over.”

Only two other teams in history have had a 26-2 start the Knicks in 1969-70 and Philadelphia in 1966-67, both went to win NBA titles. Rondo was not the only one with a good game, Ray Allen had 18 points, Paul Pierce 17, Perkins 12, and Garnett 12 showing why this team is an unstoppable force. This was the Knicks fourth straight loss and its eighth straight loss to Boston.  Glen Davis was injured Sunday on his way to the game on the Massachusetts Turnpike. He was taken to the hospital and was released after the game.
