Pro Bowl is moving in 2010

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008 | NFL | No Comments

Pro Bowl

Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl has been played in Honolulu since 1980 and is now moving to Dolphin Stadium in 2010. It will be played one week before the Super Bowl which will also be played in Miami that year. The NFL is looking to ways to strengthen the Pro Bowl in the coming years. ESPN will air the Pro Bowl in 2010 on Jan 31. The game could return to Honolulu but most like it will not be on a permanent basis. The Pro Bowl was last held in Miami back in 1975 and back then the game was rotated each year. They should cost Hawaii about $30 million a year in lost revenue from the 25,000 people that come each year to see the game.

Alabama suspends Smith from Sugar Bowl

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008 | College Football | No Comments

Bama Football

Alabama had to suspend Andre Smith the All-America left tackle for violating team rules, this could be the end of his college career. “Everyone on our team depends on each other to be responsible, to make good choices and decisions relative to their actions.” Nick Saban head coach said. “The University of Alabama, the team and the football program are more important than any individual player.” Smith violation was not released by the team or coach.

Smith should be one of the top players in the NFL draft if he skips his senior year to go pro. Smith has not commented on his future with Alabama but Saban did hint that Smith will not be back next year. In 38 games Smith has only allowed seven sacks and only one this season. He was a finalist for the Lombardi Award this year and won the Southeastern Conference Jacobs Blocking Trophy his sophomore years with the Tide.

“It is bad news,” QB John Parker Wilson said. “We lost the best offensive lineman in the country, but we still love him to death. Great guy.” Smith being out of the game could move starting guard Mike Johnson over and David Ross could replace him. Smith has submitted his name to the NFL draft board for feedback on his status.  At the time Smith said, “I’m not worried about it at all,” he said his focus is on the sugar bowl.  Earlier this season Smith missed the Tulane game and Bama struggled to win the game, they had a season-low 172 total yards that game.

It seems like each week we have some dumb athlete we are talking about and its getting worst. This guy is not even out of college and he is already pulling a Plaxico. Alabama has had an amazing season and this genius is risking it all for the team and the NFL will welcome him with open arms for millions next season. Way to go Smith you should be so proud.
