New York Giants star wide receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg Friday while in a NY city club. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening and was released from the hospital on Saturday. Not much has been released from the NFL or the Giants and the amount of time he will be out has also not be discussed. Burress, who signed a five-year, $35 million contract extension prior to the season, also was involved in a sideline confrontation with coach Tom Coughlin during a game and has been fined multiple times for a total of approximately $200,000.

The San Jose Sharks topped the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday night in San Jose. The Sharks improved to 12-0-1 at home and an amazing 18-3-1 on the young NHL season. It was the second time that the Sharks defeated the Blackhawks in a 1-goal game in less than 2 weeks.
Jonathan Toews scored both Blackhawks goals – 1 in the 2nd period and the 2nd goal less than a minute into the 3rd period that gave the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead. The Sharks, however, tied the game with less than 12 minutes to go on Patrick Marleau’s goal. Joe Thornton scored the game-winner just 45 seconds into the overtime period.
Despite staying close all through the night, it was not the Blackhawks best showing. The Sharks out shot the Blackhawks 17-2 in the 1st period and 40-25 overall. The Blackhawks seemed out of sync for most of the game, but were able to stay with the best team in hockey for all 60+ minutes. The Blackhawks have 2 games left on the Circus Road Trip.
The Killers are back and they did not disappoint true fans with Sawdust. After a few days of play, the 17 songs are a fresh addition to what I think has been a weak year of album releases. Three of the 17 songs are remakes of old songs but nice remixes. With Sawdust The Killers did not stray from the sound fans are accustomed to and that is why this album works so well. There are only two or three songs I did not love but over all this album as a whole is great. I give it two thumbs up. Its nice to see a band stick to what they are good at and not dive into new sounds or try something new. Overall, as someone that is very harsh on most of the junk that gets released these days I recommend buying the full album you will not be disappointed. The Killers are currently on tour and are due to wrap up in February. I hope to see them hit the road again so we can hear more of Sawdust live.
